Wes Burton, you ever hear of him? Probably not.
Most do not tune into college baseball into the Regionals or even the CWS, which is on my bucket list as a sporting event I have to attend. The 6-foot-8 kid from California is a right-handed pitcher for Ole Miss, making a name for himself with his intensity on the mound. Baseball is one of those sports where we are just not used to seeing much emotion. Mark it down to those unwritten rules that the old-timers always talk about when things do not go their way. That has changed over the past 10 or 15 years, with players bringing more swag to the field and not afraid to show up the opponents.
The Sophomore has made considerable gains from his freshman season, running up the gun to 96 mph. Burton has caught the attention of the Pitching Ninja (@PitchingNinja) and, by doing so, has given us all a glance at this horse on the mound. If you are a baseball fan and do not follow @PitchingNinja on Twitter, you are missing out.
Does this clip below remind you of any current big leaguer?
Hello Max Scherzer Jr!
Number one ranked Ole Miss currently is 4-0 on the young season and do not get into SEC play until mid-March. Burton has one appearance on the season with an inning of work against Arkansas State where he struck out two. If you do not have a team in college baseball, it might be time to jump on the Rebels bandwagon. Here is another reason to become an Ole Miss fan.
