Folks, the nostalgia train has run its way through the sports world over the past few years. We have seen the return of the Goathead jerseys for the Sabres, NBA teams release a plethora of older jerseys, and finally, NFL teams are capitalizing on having two helmets this season with several teams releasing throwback-inspired looks. It is time for the Buffalo Bills to bring back their old red helmet.
Bills Twitter (Bills X just sounds stupid) has been rabid for a return of the beloved red helmet. Our good friends at Labatt have even released their throwback tea drink which has the red Bills helmet front and center. Our dearly beloved Brother Bill has been dawning the red helmet in videos recently, and I can’t bare the thought of the Bills breaking his heart by not releasing a red helmet for this upcoming season.
Granted the Bills are already in the driver’s seat in the AFC East and it is their division to lose, but you can’t tell me these helmets wouldn’t make this team that much better.
The league is not ready for a red helmet wearing Josh Allen
Look at how good Josh Allen looks in that red helmet. That is a quarterback who needs, no deserves to play football for the Bills while having on that helmet.
We already know how good Josh Allen looks in shorts, but throw in a red helmet, and he might just be on the cover of Vogue for eternity. Hell, the fact he looks that good in the poorly done one I made with a paintbrush on my laptop says something. Like this took me maybe 10 minutes to make, and I would hang this in the Louvre in a heartbeat. Get our Mona Lisa, a red helmet Josh Allen is coming for you.
Why the Bills should have these helmets
- Vibes
- You can’t tell me the vibes wouldn’t be astronomical with the Bills in this helmet in front of a raucous home crowd.
- Vibes again
- Like look at these mock-up photos people. I’m ready to drive four hours to Buffalo to see these things in person.
- It would make so much money
- The Sabres Goatheads must have made the Pegulas so much money this past year. The red helmets would do similar things for the die-hard Bills fanbase.
Signs aren’t looking good
We are deep into training camp now, with no word on this happening. Sal Capaccio has said that the team does not currently plan on wearing these beautiful helmets for this upcoming season, but are evaluating plans for the future.

There is absolutely no way in the world we do not win the Super Bowl if we bring back these jerseys. Full Circle. Finish the story. Vibes.
