For the first time in my 22 year life, the Buffalo Bills won the division. Josh Allen is an MVP candidate, and Stefon Diggs should be considered for Offensive Player of the Year. The defense is finally coming around and playing their best football of the year at the right time. The hype around this team has never been bigger than it is right now in my lifetime, BUT we as a fanbase shouldn’t put the cart before the horse.
Trust me, I want to get excited about this team, I really do, but the higher we put the expectations, the more likely we are to heartbreak (Go back and read all of mine from 2020, which includes the Bills). Look at what happened last year. We all got excited about the Houston Texans game, and I thought they were going to win. That feeling only increased as the game progressed until the Texans took the lead. The depressing feeling took over watching Ka’imi Fairbairn kick the game-winning field goal ending the Bills season. Excluding the Tennessee Titans upsetting the New England Patriots that night completely sucked.
Look, I’m not saying you don’t think the Bills won’t beat the Colts. All I ask is to take it one game at a time. Getting too confident will be the downfall of us all. The Bills could end up finding themselves in a trap game for all we know. We can’t see the future, so one game at a time is the way things need to happen. I keep getting the thoughts of what if it does actually happen. What if the Bills actually get it done this year, but every time I have to remind myself that we are still a month away from the Super Bowl. So please take it one game at a time instead of jumping past three games.
