FOLKS! Buffalo sports fans were on ecstasy again last night as for the 2nd time in a week the Sabres mounted a 2-goal comeback in the 3rd period at home to get a dub. It was deeeeeeeeeep into the night as Sabres fans basked in the afterglow and worked to convince themselves that this year’s strong start was so much different than that of year’s past.
Sabres through 10 games each season…

Eventually it will actually be real.
However, no amount of Snarky Joe’s realistic perspective could stop the sunshine and rainbows through the midnight hour last night. But what has been powering these comebacks? Has it been the renewed sense of accountability that this group clearly has versus teams in the past? Is it that they don’t get their heads down (I’m looking at you Eich) when a break doesn’t go their way? Is it their balanced scoring that right now is surprising the NHL world?
It very well could be any of those things, but while each comeback and last night’s game have had differing variables, one thing at these games has been consistent…the rally pretzel.
The 3rd period rally pretzel. This is where we turn it around. Worked the last two times. #LetsGoBuffalo pic.twitter.com/Ms4v4mdrR8

Not only was it in place and ready to go, the formula was tested and true. However, the past positivity of the pretzel wasn’t being initially welcomed from all corners…probably due to Pittsburgh scoring 8 seconds into the period.
Pretzel must be destroyed…

In a true display of it’s magic, it took mere moments for the pretzel to turn the haters into believers. With this refreshment in hand victory was all but assured.
I take it back pretzel must be worshipped

The Buffalo Sabres twisted the Pittsburgh Penguins into a knot with 5!!!! 3rd period goals, clinching a 6-3 victory after trailing 3-1 with 19:52 to play. The salt in the wound was this Girgensons effort at the end to help put the game away.
Still thinking about how Letang had such a hold of Girgensons that when Zemgus went to skate away he dragged him 10+ feet ? pic.twitter.com/AHrks8FZhW

Sometimes you need to jumble up the lines, sometimes you need to give the guys an off day…but one thing’s for certain. These pretzels are making Sabres fans thirsty for more.
