Honest to God I thought the Grand Canyon was going to be a tourist trap that wasn’t that cool. I couldn’t have been more wrong about that.
In my head, anything that a ton of people go to can’t be the best of the best. For Buffalo, Duffs and Anchor Bar are good but are nowhere near the best the city has to offer.
I guess it makes sense that people go to the Grand Canyon because it is truly remarkable. While I am a true wordsmith, there is nothing I can say or do to portray this place accurately.
I was also under the impression it would just be like a single ravine, but shocker, I was wrong yet again.
For those of you who haven’t been, the photo below just doesn’t do it justice at all just how grand this canyon really is.
The best thing (also craziest) is that you can just go explore right by the edge of the canyon with no railings or anything.
I feel like that is just a recipe for disaster, but I decided to embark toward the edge to get a good look for myself.
If this blog had audio, you would be able to hear how badly my boots were shaking because this is just insane. I don’t know how this is allowed, but I’m not complaining at all since it was such a memorable experience.
While this place is chock full of tourists, it somehow doesn’t feel that busy at the actual Canyon. I have no idea where everyone was but I was expecting a lot worse.
This was the last of my National Park journey, and it was the perfect bookend to a great stretch at Redwoods, Sequoia, and Joshua Tree.
Headed back east
It is crazy to think just how long I have been on the road now. I can’t tell if it feels like its been 30 seconds or 30 years, but this trip has truly been incredible. I still have a few days left, but as we head back toward the east, it is starting to kick in that this ride is almost over.
That’s enough of that gross stuff, lets enjoy the rest of our weekend, and I’ll save the rest of that for another day.
