As a man who has lived his whole life on the East Coast, there has always been some sort of mysticism and legend about the fast-food burger joint In-N-Out.
My views on the incredible Culver’s burgers (and cheese curds) has been well documented, so I only thought it was right to try another regional burger empire.
As soon as I reached the California border from Oregon, I knew I had to find an In-N-Out. It didn’t take me long to get a double-double in my hands and see how it stacked up to the Culver’s butterburger. While the latter makes me feel like I am going to go into cardiac arrest, the In-N-Out burger was such a nice change of pace with fresh veggies.
The best thing about In-N-Out wasn’t the burger or anything animal-style, it was the cost of it all. I paid $4 for the In-N-Out burger which is like $2 cheaper than a gallon of gas next door to the restaurant. With that being said if we are just comparing head-to-head, the Culver’s is the much better burger.
The overall taste of the In-N-Out though was a bit lackluster. I see the appeal of a cheap burger and fries, but the actual food is nothing to write home about. What there is to write home about (or blog) is just the pricing of everything.
In a world where we see rising costs everywhere, to have an affordable meal that is sourced well needs to be commended.
For a burger meal, it would run you about $8-9 which is cheaper than really any place you’ll find. We are also talking about these prices in absurdly expensive California.
With all that being said, Culver’s still ranks first on my regional fast-food burger list and it will be tough to bring down.
I’m not suggesting skipping one if you are ever near a place, but you should not build a trip around experiencing an In-N-Out burger.
