The NASCAR Cup Series continues their playoffs with a trip west to Nevada. Las Vegas Motor Speedway will play host to the first race of the Round of 12. The South Point 400 is a chance for the drivers and you to earn some money. Down below is my chance to help you out in trying to do so.
FanDuel NASCAR DFS Overview
In this NASCAR Cup Series DFS column, I will be using FanDuel prices and scoring. Their scoring includes the following:
- .1 points for leading a lap
- .1 points for completing a lap
- Add/subtract a half point based on the difference in a driver’s finishing position relative to their starting position
- Points based on where the driver finishes

South Point 400 Drivers to Consider
Kyle Larson ($14,500)
Wow… what a surprise, the driver who won here in the spring, won the race last week and starts on the pole. Is it low-hanging fruit? Yes, I think he will lead a lot of laps on the way to the end of the race, but I think that this goes back to the old Larson where he doesn’t get the job done. Larson still finishes top 5 but does not get the win. Larson will still be a good pick for your NASCAR DFS lineups.
Christopher Bell ($9,500)
Christopher Bell has been underrated so far in the playoffs. He was able to easily move into the next round of the playoffs even with his cut tire towards the end of the Bristol. Bell finished seventh in the spring race here. Bell starts 12th, last of all the playoff contenders but he won’t stay there as he should have a comfortable top 10.
Chris Buescher ($7,000)
The value play this week is a guy we on Burnt Rubber Racing like a lot in Chris Buescher. Buescher finished 14th in the first race at Vegas in March. Buescher starts 25th so the points are there to earn. Put Buescher in your FanDuel NASCAR lineups for this week.
Joey Logano ($10,500)
Joey Logano is one of the down Penske drivers this year. Logano still only has the one win back in March and that is it. This week Logano changes that and gets win number two of the year at Vegas. Logano in the last ten races at Vegas has an average finish of 6.1 including two wins. Logano is one you want in your NASCAR DFS lineups.
South Point 400 Drivers to Avoid
William Byron ($11,000)
William Byron might be one of the most consistent drivers on the season, but he has a bad wrap here at Las Vegas. An average finish of 20.3 in his seven races here. Byron starts third making it worse for his DFS day. Willy B can be skipped in your FanDuel NASCAR DFS lineups.
Chase Elliott ($12,500)
The 9 car of Chase Elliott has some reasons as to why you should not take him. Let’s start with his stats here are abysmal. In his last 9 races here at the track he has an average finish of 21st. Combine that with there may be some payback coming from another driver and that makes this a hard play for this week. Elliott is a no-go.
Tyler Reddick ($8,500)
The 8 car of Tyler Reddick has not been too good here at Las Vegas. An average finish of 26th in his three visits to the track. Tyler Reddick has been mediocre in the playoffs as he was eliminated last week. Running for pride isn’t good enough for Reddick this week as I wouldn’t take him in NASCAR DFS lineups this week.
Kurt Busch ($9,000)
The winner of this very race last year is on the avoid list. Somehow with his stats, he was able to squeak out a win. Kurt Busch in his last nine races here he has an average finish of 20.4. Along with Reddick, he was eliminated after mediocre results in the Round of 16. Kurt Busch is not a guy you want in your FanDuel NASCAR lineups.
