I am in the midst of wrapping up planning my cross-country road trip that I’ll be departing for in just a few weeks. I am at a bit of an impasse (no pun intended) with the best route for me to get home.
As I stated in my last blog, I have no idea how identities get stolen, and I also don’t want myself to be as well. So most of the intimate details will be shared after they happen, but nonetheless, I still would like any suggestions on routes back home to the northeast.
On my out west I will be going north route to see some of my friends in Michigan, Idaho, and the Pacific Northwest. So I have the northernmost part of the country covered, and will be eating at every Culver’s I see (I cannot wait).
I am doing a bit of zig-zagging to get out west to see some friends along the way, but am curious about what way back would be the best for the experience.
This feels like a once-and-a-lifetime trip and I want to make the most of it.
Now, as I begin my return voyage back to the east from California, I am tasked with the age-old question of taking the north route or the south route.
A true conundrum right out of the show Friends, do I take the route with a beard of bees or the south route to see a chicken that plays tic-tac-toe?
The north route
This option I feel gives me the cooler cities to drive though in the begining, but gets a bit corn field-y toward the end of the journey.
Reno, Salt Lake City, Cheyenne, Omaha, Des Moines, and all the cornfields I could ever see await me here.
I feel like I will immediately regret this decision after I cross the Rocky Mountains (which seem beyond beautiful) and see endless flat fields all day long.
Are any of these places worth it on my journey?
Or am I better off going south?
The south route
This is the recommended route by my phone but I am a man of the people, not a man of the machines.
This journey would take me through Arizona, through some beautiful national and state parks, and as I eventually make my way back north after Texas.
In my head, this route makes the most sense.
Both options give me the incredible opportunity to see parts of this country I have never and may never see again. I want to do this trip right so please tweet me @gatesy35 with any tips you may have for my journey.
