BY: SOME GUY NAMED STEVE
Folks you know the drill! Last week I gave out three guys that you three players to add immediately and we are running it back this week with three more guys. Just like last week all three players are owned in less than 50% of ESPN leagues and will help you right now and going forward.
Danny Duffy: Kansas City Royals SP (46.1% ESPN Ownership)
The first player on this week’s list is Danny Duffy of the Kansas City Royals. I’ll be honest with you, I was shocked to see that Duffy’s ownership was still below 50% in ESPN leagues. Despite not being a very popular name, Danny Duffy has been one of the most efficient pitchers all season long. This year, Duffy has made three starts and has a quality start for each one of them. Duffy has thrown 18 innings and allowed just one run while striking out 19 batters. Duffy has a 0.50 ERA and a 1.11 WHIP and has only given up one home run all season long. Although Duffy doesn’t have another start this week, I would grab him ahead of time because he’s projected to have a two start week next week against the Tigers and the Twins.
Colin Moran: Pittsburgh Pirates 1B/DH (33.9% ESPN Ownership)
The next player on this week’s list is a guy who can help you at a weak position. First base has been a rough position so far this season and if you are in need of a replacement, Colin Moran is available in over 60% of ESPN leagues. Moran is a guy who can give your team some added power while not hurting you too much in average. Moran is currently the 4th-ranked first baseman on the season in ESPN leagues. On the year Moran has a slash line of .298/.385/.579 and has four home runs, 13 RBI’s, eight runs scored to go along with it. Moran bats cleanup for the Pirates and will have a ton of opportunities to continue to produce runs and RBI’s. With first base being one of the weaker positions in fantasy baseball, Moran is a great addition who can give your team some power all year long.
Kyle Gibson: Texas Rangers SP (33.3% ESPN Ownership)
The final guy on this week’s list is a player who is notorious for being a popular add/drop candidate over the course of his career. His name is Kyle Gibson and at age 33 he continues to be a reliable starting pitcher in the MLB. Kyle Gibson is not a flashy pickup but he is a guy who can give you quality outings all year long and will not hurt your team in any specific pitching category. Gibson is 2-0 on the year with a 2.53 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP. Gibson has 18 strikeouts over 21.1 innings pitched and has walked six batters. His stats are good but they could be a lot better if it wasn’t for a blowup in his first start of the season. In that start Gibson only pitched 1/3 of an inning allowing five runs on four hits and three walks. However, since that start Gibson has been phenomenal. In his past three starts, Gibson has allowed just one run over 21 innings pitched and has struck out 17 batters. He has a quality start in all three and has only walked three total batters in those outings. Gibson starts this Saturday against the White Sox and if he throws another gem expect his ownership to double or even triple. If you are in need of a starting pitcher don’t risk missing out and pick up Kyle Gibson now!
