#Bills plan to bid to host 2028 NFL draft.

“We think the city of Buffalo would be absolutely perfect for this type of event.” — new COO Pete Guelli.https://t.co/viniXbdP5y
From the article:
Recognizing the financial impact for the community and wanting to host a high-profile event at their new venue, the Buffalo Bills plan on bidding for the 2028 NFL draft, Pete Guelli, the team’s executive vice president and chief operating officer told The Buffalo News.
“We’ve seen the success and growth of the draft in other markets,” Guelli said. The draft “is the kind of opportunities we’re going to pursue as an organization, and we think the city of Buffalo would be absolutely perfect for this type of event.”

I will hit the brakes before I go off on a tangent. The article does make it very clear that the expectation is just that they are ‘trying’ to get in the mix of potential applicants, it doesn’t even sound like it’s been submitted yet.
However, there is legitimately ZERO.ZERO doubt in my mind that this event and any thought of a 2020s NFL Draft in Orchard Park would be an abject failure that would reflect poorly on the Buffalo Bills and the Western New York community as a whole.
Start from the inside and work your way out, when was the last time the Buffalo Bills successfully worked with large groups of people…even within their own fanbase?

Oh and btw….how are those new PSL’s going at the stadium that is barely a quarter done?

NEW: Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz unloaded on the Buffalo Bills for how the team and its partners have handled the rollout of personal seat licenses at the new stadium: "They got more than an earful from me," he said. https://t.co/wKPG7v1tIf pic.twitter.com/5vTMOsplud

Question for the Bills:
— Kevin O’Neill (@KevinBuffalo) April 1, 2024
Can I pay off my PSL with shoveling?
So needless to say in a variety of ways the Bills haven’t been able to satisfy/appease their own fans…now we are going to try to do so with 500-700k people coming into WNY/OP for 3 days? Are we serious?
Big Tree, O’Neills, Louie’s hots, and Tim Hortons can definitely feed 750,000 people over three days. I can’t anticipate any issues

You’re fried if you think orchard park is hosting a draft 😂 where is everybody going to hang out? Big tree?? 😝

Green Bay is going to be difficult. Typically the Drafts are hosted downtown, not at a stadium. Green Bay and Buffalo are awkward size cities to host an event like that. Would love Buffalo to host but it would be weird if it was at Orchard park.

Buffalo hosting a draft?

110% will snow in late April then.
I love Buffalo and I will always champion this city. Kudos to us for shooting for the stars and applying, but hosting an NFL draft anytime in the immediate future would be an embarrassment that Buffalo just does not need to endure.
