Leading up to Sunday’s matchup against the Miami Dolphins (10-6), many had wondered if Buffalo Bills’ head coach Sean McDermott would rest his starters.

With a playoff berth and AFC East division already clinched, the Bills (13-3) rolled out their first string offense for the first half and cruised to a 56-26 victory over the Dolphins at Bills Stadium and completed a division sweep for the first time in franchise history.

Josh Allen led the way for the Buffalo offense with 224 yards passing, three touchdowns, one interception and completed 18 of 25 of his passes. Allen, who entered the game with 4,320 passing yards on the year, became the Bills’ all-time single-season leader in passing yards, a record set by Drew Bledsoe (4,359 yards) in 2002. He finished the 2020 NFL regular season with 4,544 yards passing, 37 passing touchdowns, 10 interceptions. Allen also completed 396 passes on 572 (69.2 percent) and added eight touchdowns on the ground.

He is now the Bills’ all-time single-season leader in passing yards, touchdowns, completions, and completion percentage. His 2020 NFL campaign is the greatest season of any Bills QB in franchise history.

Also leading the way for the Bills’ offensive was wide receiver, Isaiah McKenzie. He got involved early on in the game and caught two beautifully thrown passes by Allen, and added a punt return for a touchdown late in the first half. He finished the day with five receptions for 62 yards and three touchdowns.

Rookie kicker Tyler Bass also added to the historic day. He was 8-for-8 on extra points and set the record most points in Bills history with 141.

The Bills are now in full possession of the No. 2 seed in the AFC. They will have to wait until after the late afternoon games of Indianapolis Colts vs. Jacksonville Jaguars and Tennessee Titans vs. Houston Texans to determine which team they will host in the AFC wild-card round.

Next weekend will be the first home playoff game at Bills Stadium since Dec. 28, 1996. On Wednesday, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that 6,700 fans would be allowed inside Bills Stadium.
