Welcome to Bills breakdown. The purpose of these and future articles, is to give the casual fan an update on what takes place everyday at #BillsCamp that they can consume in less than 5-10 minutes. With that said, let’s get into it.
- THE BEST ABILITY IS AVAILABILITY
As opposed to past training camps and especially 2023, Sean McDermott kicked off his presser by stating that they would have everyone available in some form for camp. He did indicate that some players returning from injuries last year may take a little longer… but this is a great sign for a Bills team looking to re-establish continuity heading into the Fall.

2. OFFENSE STARTED IN THE RED(ZONE)
While a casual (like myself) might think it makes sense for the Bills and these grown professional athletes to ease into the pool inch by inch…McDermott figured a cannonball inside the 20 was a good fit for practice. The offense worked with some success in this area as Josh tried out his bigger targets he’ll have available to him this season. He noted that Mack Hollins for example and others are allowing him to put balls in tight redzone areas he wouldn’t have in years previous.
3. STARTING ON DEFENSE FOR DAMAR?
In a surprise to many on the TL, McDermott indicated that Damar Hamlin would get opportunities to run with the starters out the gate.

Where this goes remains uncertain, but it’s worth noting that Damar was growing as a player before his incident, and similar to Von Miller, may only be getting his swagger and true athletic prowess back this season… speaking of which…
4. VON MILLER DID SOMETHING (NOTHING, BUT ‘SOMETHING’)
Now this might as well have been breaking news on ESPN the way last year ended. Obviously there were no pads today, but it seems like Von Miller (like DAMAR above) is getting back some of the athleticism that’s made him a dominant force the past decade in the National Football League.

5. OFFENSIVE WEAPONS = UNDER CONSTRUCTION
This entire offseason has been filled with ‘Kincaid-Shakir this’ ‘Shakir-Kincaid-that’ so it wasn’t surprising to see them steal a little bit of the show on Day 1.
One more thing of note..

Khalil Shakir and Dalton Kincaid are going to be MONSTERS this year.
To say they stood out today would be an understatement. They are both soo good at their respective crafts, and will be featured in this offense in a major way.#BillsMafia
The jury is still out on who will develop as Josh’s go-to behind these two, but a nice start nonetheless.
6. HEY NOW HEY NOW, THIS IS WHAT DREEEEEAMS ARE MADE OF
Training Camp is an awesome opportunity for fans to meet players and have experiences with their favorite team they normally wouldn’t. This is especially true for this one young fan who was their today:
#Billsmafia can you help here? You've come through before.
