Folks, Slick L here, and I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving despite the strange circumstances. We have a great long weekend ahead of us for drinking and betting on sports! What more could you really ask for? This Saturday is JAM-PACKED for combat sports, as we have another UFC fight night from America’s playground and a batch of exciting boxing matches. Let’s get right into these plays and make some money this holiday weekend!
UFC Vegas 15:
Martin Day vs. Anderson Dos Antos
We have two exciting fighters starting things off with a bantamweight matchup, both well capable on their feet and the mat. Both men are coming into this bout at the 135-pound mark. However, Martin Day has 5 inches on this guy as well as 3.5 on the reach. You put that on top of the fact that he’s already the more efficient striker of the two. I think this will be a close call that goes to the judges.
Money line odds:
Martin Day: -167
Dos Antos: +135
PICK: Martin Day (-167) ML
Miguel Baeza vs. Takashi Sato
In this welterweight matchup, we see an experienced Sato go head-to-head with the young, exciting Miguel “Caramel Thunder” Baeza. Sato is coming off an impressive victory via TKO against Jason Witt in June. Both these men are active strikers that have an underrated game on the ground. For me, Baeza has been so exciting to watch ever since he earned his contract in the Contender Series. He comes into this fight 9-0, with his last two victories coming by second-round KO. The best part is he seems to look significantly better each time he steps in the ring. I like this guy, not to mention that nickname is awesome. I think Caramel Thunder leaves the Apex victorious on Saturday night.
Money line odds:
Miguel Baeza: -175
Takashi Sato: +140
PICK: Miguel Baeza (-175) ML
Dog Pick:
Jonathan Pearce vs. Kai Kamaka III
The past two weeks, we’ve had a winner out of the dog picks. We’re looking to keep that streak alive! I am genuinely surprised at how deep the line on this one is, and that is no disrespect to Kamaka. The problem I see here, though, is Kamaka is moving up a weight class for this fight and still has a 10-pound disadvantage in this one. The Contender Series’ alumni Jonathan Pearce has proven to be a dominant striker. He will end Kamaka’s win streak.
Money line odds:
Jonathan Pearce: +245
Kai Kamaka III: -335
PICK: Jonathan Pearce (+245) ML
Slick’s Parlay:
Gina Mazany (-200) ML
Miguel Baeza (-175) ML
Martin Day (-167) ML
Boxing:
Mike Tyson vs. Jones Jr.
That is right, folks, Slick’s picks are bringing you locks for a HUGE boxing card also on Saturday. You may ask why, Slick… why? Iron Mike Tyson, that is why. I’ve always dreamed this day would come, and it’s about to be here for real. What I don’t like going into this fight is the adjusted rules, as it is technically an “exhibition.” Let’s get this straight, folks if Mike Tyson is fighting, the word exhibition means nothing to me. Even though they’ve made it 8 two-minute rounds and apparently aren’t going to declare an official winner…?! I don’t care because there WILL be a winner. After all, Roy Jones Jr. will get knocked out, mark my words. Tyson’s trainer said he trained for a FIGHT, and we’re going to see a fight on Saturday.
Money line odds:
Mike Tyson: -225
Roy Jones Jr: +175
PICK: Mike Tyson (-225) ML
Dog Pick:
Jake Paul vs. Nate Robinson
There’s a fine line between professional level athletes and celebrity part-time just for show athletes. I’m not going to knock Jake Paul too much as he didn’t look bad against KSI, but KSI is not professional level either. I loved watching Nate Robinson dunk on guys twice his size in the NBA. Fan-favorite for sure, and I think we all kind of want to see Jake Paul get his ass kicked.
Money line odds:
Jake Paul: -250
Nate Robinson: +195
PICK: Nate Robinson (+195) ML
