After signing Zemgus Girgenson to a three-year extension earlier today, Lance Lysowski of The Buffalo News has reported that the Buffalo Sabres have signed forward Tobias Rieder to a one-year, $700,000 contract.

Rieder was teammates with Ralph Krueger's son, Justin, for Germany at previous world championships.
Rieder, who was drafted with the 23rd pick in the fourth round, 114th overall in the 2011 NHL Draft by Edmonton, spent the last seven years of career with the Arizona Coyotes, Los Angeles Kings, Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames.
In 2019, as a member of the Calgary Flames, Rieder collected four goals, six assists and 10 points in 55 games. His best year was in 2015 when he compiled 14 goals, 23 assists and 37 points in 82 games for the Coyotes.
Rieder was also a teammate of Ralph Krueger’s son, Justin, for Germany at the previous world championships.
