Truthfully, I’m a bit surprised that the Celtics have dominated to this level, but not because they weren’t capable of it. This team is one of the best in NBA history statistically. It was just that we all thought Luka and Kyrie would provide enough scoring and answers to make it difficult.
The Celtics have defended the Mavericks PERFECTLY. Luka has ZERO answers. Something I don’t think I’ve ever seen in his career to this point. Everything the Mavs had been doing well has been null and void. The Celtics are taking away the lobs. They are taking away the corners. They are forcing the two guards into the paint and daring them to shoot against one of the best rim-protecting teams we’ve ever seen.
The Celtics offense is also unstoppable when you have the talent they have. The Mavs defense has been amazing since the trade deadline, but this Celtics team is a different beast. They are a different level than any other team in this league. Have been all year. They’ve ben disrespected and doubted, but there is no longer any doubt. This is just the start of the Boston Celtics 2020’s run. Get used to them.
