Since leaving California, I have been figuring my days out as they arrive. So when I noticed that my favorite artist, Maggie Rogers, was performing right where I’d be driving through, it felt like fate.
I spent the previous night on the road at a random rest stop near Amarillo Texas. So, I had about a 6-hour drive to get to the venue in Northwestern Arkansas. I was able to snag a pit ticket for pretty cheap and did my best to get there a few hours early so I could get as close as possible.
The previous concert I went to, (Chappell Roan in Pittsburgh) I arrived 2 hours before, and was a fair bit back, but still the closest I had been up to that point. It was to my shock that I not only secured being on the barricade for Maggie but was pretty damn close to the center as well.
I will not lie to the millions of you reading this. My hands were beyond shaking when I got to my spot there, and stayed like that for probably a bit too long.
Anyways, I was also shocked that I was able to just have my friend that I just made get a wide stance and I was able to run and get a shirt from the merch table.
That friend I made was next to me in line for the 2 hours before the doors opened, and they honestly made my night. While I love traveling alone, it makes it all worth while to make new friends and meet some phenomenal people.
We enjoyed the show together, and then got Dominoes afterward (the only place open, I paid the price for that at like 4 a.m. at the Love’s I stayed at) before we said out goodbyes.
I still am just so thankful for moments like that (not the Love’s incident) because that is what I have truly begun to cherish from being on the road. Meeting new people, and making new friends who are just fun to be around.
The concert itself
The opener on the night was also one of my favorite artists, The Japanese House. For those of you who have not heard them, they have some great songs out that are super relaxing, and the overall vibe of the band on stage was so good.
This was the first time I knew the opener to a concert I had been to, and they made it such a great experience since I knew all of their songs by heart already.
So by the time Maggie came out, I was already in a phenomenal mood, and she somehow made it even better.
I have had the great pleasure of seeing some of the best on-stage performers with Bruce Springsteen and Garth Brooks play live, and I would honestly throw Maggie Rogers into that category as well.
Her presence in front of the crowd, paired with her incredible vocals is truly a must-go for anyone on the fence on seeing her play live.
