The NASCAR Cup Series is running the Charlotte Motor Speedway Roval this Sunday at 2 PM ET on NBC (a good pre-show before the Bills game on SNF). This is the final race of the Round of 12, where after this race, the playoffs get cut down to 8 for the next round. The twists and turns the Roval is known for will make things hard for the drivers…and may even throw a monkey wrench into someone’s chances of making the next round.
Charlotte Motor Speedway Track Facts
Located in Concord, North Carolina, Charlotte Motor Speedway is a quad-oval track. It was first debuted with the inaugural NASCAR World 600, that served as its first-ever race. They wanted to hold it on Memorial Day to rival the Indianapolis 500, but that track wasn’t yet ready to do so that first year. Every year since 1960, Charlotte has hosted the 600-mile NASCAR Cup Series race – the longest event of the circuit’s annual schedule.
Since 1961, the Coca-Cola 600 has always been hosted on Memorial Day Weekend. 1985 was when Coca-Cola bought the sponsorship rights and the race was officially named the Coca-Cola 600, which has stuck ever since. From 1999-2009, Charlotte Motor Speedway itself was actually sponsored by Lowe’s.
Since 2018 the Charlotte Motor Speedway playoff race was changed to the roval instead of a traditional oval. In the three total races on the roval, it has produced nothing but chaos.

Chase Elliott (DK $10,700/FD $14,500)
AJ Allmendinger (DK $11,200/FD $12,00)
Joey Logano (DK $8,100/FD $11,000)
Ryan Blaney (DK $9,100/FD $8,000)
Daniel Suarez (DK $7,000/FD $4,500)
Betting Picks:
Longshot Pick: Tyler Reddick (50/1)
Reddick’s a guy who’s surprised me on the road courses this year and has some long shot value this week. Reddick was eliminated after the Round of 16 and since then, and has had some good runs – before getting wrecked last week. If you’re looking for some long-range value, look no further than driver number 8.
Underdog Pick: Ryan Blaney (22/1)
Ryan Blaney’s a driver who’s won here before (with an average finish of 4.7) and should NOT have odds this long. Blaney has the equipment under the hood and he knows this track better than most. He’s the guy to bet if you want some big value odds on a driver with a legit shot to win this race.
My Race Pick: Chase Elliott (+220)
Can you really pick anybody else to win this race? Chase Elliott has been so good here the past two years and on the road courses this year. Elliott should have no problem getting his third straight win at the Charlotte Roval.
