The Degenerate Delight: Free Money Picks for Tuesday February 23rd

BY: SOME GUY NAMED STEVE

Last night we were all over the place with our picks. We started the night with a heartbreaker in overtime, had an absolute whiff, and ended the night with a pick that had hit by the first quarter. If it wasn’t for a missed free throw by Presbyterian followed up by a game-winning three by Charleston So. we would’ve had a winning night. Tonight we are back at it with three college basketball picks!

Overall Record: 18-24-1 (-9.2u)

Last Week: 8-7 (+.3u)

This Week: 1-2 (-1.1u)

Bowling Green (-7) at Eastern Michigan

For our first game tonight, we have a little bit of MACtion. Bowling Green (12-9, 8-11 ATS) travels to Eastern Michigan (4-9, 3-7 ATS) in hopes of extending its win streak to three. Bowling Green was projected as one of the favorites to win the MAC this season and started the year very hot winning ten of their first thirteen games. A six-game losing streak followed the hot start, but The Falcons have won their last two, and it looks like they have snapped out of their mid-season slump. Tonight they face Eastern Michigan who has been dreadful. Eastern Michigan has only one win this year vs. a Division 1 opponent and has won every other game vs. D1 teams by double digits. They have struggled mightily to stop MAC opponents allowing them to score 81.7ppg and a 59.2% effective field goal percentage. I find it very hard for them to stop Bowling Green’s offense tonight, which ranks 91st in all of the NCAA.

Florida (+2) at Auburn

Our second game tonight is an SEC battle between Florida (11-6, 8-9 ATS) and Auburn (11-12, 10-11-2 ATS). According to the numbers, Florida has been one of the better and more balanced teams this season. Florida is ranked 36th in the country in both offensive and defensive efficiency. The Gators shoot the ball very well at 46.7% from the field (47th best) and hold opponents to 42.3% (127th). Currently projected as the No. 7 seed, Florida will have a lot of motivation in the next couple of weeks to add to its tournament resume and keep itself off the bubble. Tonight they face Auburn, who has struggled the past month greatly. Auburn has lost 5 of its last 6 thanks to a miserable defense that has allowed those opponents to score 85.7ppg. The Tigers are ranked 107th in defensive efficiency and 166th in opposing field goal percentage and should struggle to slow down Florida’s offense. Take the Gators.

Prairie View (-16) vs Arkansas Pine Bluff

Did you know that Prairie View has the best ATS record in all of college basketball? I bet you didn’t, but you do now. Prairie View is a respectable 8-4 on the year but a ridiculous 11-1 against the spread. I call Prairie View the “class of the SWAC” because Prairie View is the lone outlier in such a bad conference. Tonight they face Arkansas Pine Bluff (3-17, 11-9 ATS), who has been atrocious this season. According to Kenpom, the Golden Lions are ranked 351st out of 357 teams in all of college basketball. They have an adjusted offensive ranking of 341st and an adjusted defensive ranking of 353rd. In simpler terms, they aren’t a good basketball team. Now I know 16 points is a lot, but I will continue to ride the Prairie View trend until it dies. Take advantage of the Panthers now before everyone starts to notice.
