“We’re going streaking!” – Will Ferrell (Old School)

Oh my goodness is gambling bad for your heart. The Ducks practically sent me into cardiac arrest last night when they almost forced OT, and the Sharks nearly did the same when they tied the game at 6 and completed my perfect night. Good news: I’m on a heater! Bad news: I just made an appointment with a cardiologist. Tonight, we only have two games on the slate, both being early games. The free money is hard to find, but if you look close enough, it’s there!

Bruins Regulation ML (-110)

Tonight on NBCSN, the Boston Bruins and New York Rangers will square off in their first game of the year. The two squads find themselves on opposite ends of the MassMutual East Division Standings, Boston being 8-1-2 (1st), New York 4-5-2 (8th). Tonight we’ll see how sizable the gap between these two teams really is, in what I imagine should be a pretty lopsided affair. I say “should” because Tuukka Rask hasn’t been at his best this year. He’s allowed just 2.36 goals per game, but boasts a save percentage below of .898. If he plays close to the level Boston fans have gotten used to from him, the Bruins will easily win in regulation. Getting that bet at this price tag is a steal.

Maple Leafs/Canadiens O6.5 (EVEN)

This will be just the second of eight meetings between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Montreal Canadiens, and there’s very little separating these two teams. Evidence of that is the first game they played this year, which Toronto won 5-4 in overtime. Both teams can seemingly score at will. They’re tied for third in the NHL in scoring (48 goals each). But neither of the two can count on their goalies for consistency. Frederik Anderson will bring his .904 SV% into this contest, while Carey Price will do the same with his .899 SV%. I won’t pretend to be confident in picking a winning side, but I love the over at even money in this one.

NHL Grand Salami – Away Goals (-130)

My methodology here is that Maple Leafs vs Canadiens should be a closer game than Bruins vs Rangers. It’s far more likely that the Bruins win by 2 than it is the Canadiens. On a two game slate, that’s essentially what you’re doing with a Grand Salami. You’re choosing which of two groups of teams will score more goals: Boston & Toronto or New York & Montreal. If the sides were switched, making Boston and Toronto home teams instead, I think this line would be closer to -180. Like the Bruins Regulation money line, I see immense value here.
