Local breweries coming to aid of local restaurants

Revive WNY Restaurants’ mission is to take struggling restaurants in the WNY area, hear their story, market their story and create a funding process through the community for direct no cost marketing for a period of one week. We also have opportunities for the individual restaurant to raise additional funds for their survival and for their struggling staff.

It comes as surprise to none that many local restaurants are reeling after close to a year of restrictions caused by the pandemic, but a few local breweries are teaming up to do their part to help.

Local favorites Community Beer Works, Hamburg Brewing Company, Resurgence Brewing Company, and 42 North Brewing have joined forces to release the Revive WNY Restaurants 4-Pack. The variety 4-pack will feature one unique brew from each brewery while the proceeds will go directly to the Revive WNY Restaurants Fund.

The WNY region has seen the loss of over 6,000 jobs since the start of the pandemic and a large portion of those are from within the restaurant industry. Most restaurants have had to make cuts to survive while others were forced to board their windows up for good, however now is a chance to prevent that from continuing.

From left to right: 42 North’s Hazy IPA, CBW’s Oatmeal Stout, Hamburg’s Fruited Sour Ale, and Resurgence’s Amber Lager

42 North leads the way with a Hazy IPA featuring Citra, Cashmere, and Chinook hops. The hazy IPA trend has made IPAs much more palatable for the casual beer drinker as they’re much less bitter and normally are full of fruit notes. This hazy should live up to that between the hops chosen and the oats used to cut down on bitterness. 4-Pack’s will be available at 42 North starting Saturday, but preorder is available now.

For Hamburg’s contribution, they also went very trendy with a Fruited Sour Ale. This one features strawberries and raspberries before being all tied together with milk sugar to help thicken and sweeten up the ale. This is the perfect beer to have on the first tease of spring. Hamburg will begin selling the 4-pack over the weekend.

Community Beer Works went with a winter staple in an Oatmeal Stout. This stout iteration was layered with roasted oats and chocolate malts. It should be the perfect embrace for your tastebuds after snow blowing the driveway this weekend. You can get yours down on 7th Street Friday before the storm gets here!

Last, but not least is Resurgence’s blueberry pancake Amber Lager. This beer is breakfast in a can. The sweet flavors from the blueberries and maple meld together to balance the bread and light toasted notes from the lager itself.

If you can’t make it to either of the breweries, these 4-packs will be available at all Buffalocal distributors including Tops Friendly Markets, Wegmans and Consumer’s.
